When I left BetaKit in March I wasn’t sure what I would do next, but I knew it would involve some downtime to travel, catch up on some good books, and enjoy the sun. Now that I have that out of my system, I’m excited to announce that I’m joining 88 Creative as Managing Director. 88 Creative is a boutique digital marketing agency based in Toronto, and it was started by my friends at BuzzBuzzHome, a real estate startup that helps people find information on new construction projects in Canada and the U.S. BuzzBuzzHome has grown quickly in the past few years, in part because of its presence on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms.
Co-founder Matthew Slutsky has long used tools like infographics, photos, surveys, and online conversations to grow his company’s profile. It’s no surprise that other companies in the industry took notice, asking Matthew to help them grow their social presence, which is where 88 Creative was born. The company is growing quickly with clients in the real estate and consumer industries, and a team of digital strategists, graphic designers, creative directors, and web designers.
I’ll be heading up the team, building the 88 Creative brand in Canada and growing beyond our flourishing real estate practice to other industries. The agency provides everything from social media account strategy, content creation, and management, to website design, infographics, and really anything that can help a company start or grow their online presence. If you’re interested in chatting or just want to know more about my new role drop me a line at email@example.com.
More exciting news today – BetaKit has been acquired by Ian Hardy at MobileSyrup and will now be a startup publication with a specifically Canadian focus. While I’m not returning to my post as Managing Editor, I will be an ongoing contributor, and am thrilled that the publication will live on. Check out my post introducing the new BetaKit here, and I hope you’ll use it as a resource for your startup news.
I’m excited to start this next chapter, and can’t wait to join another startup company with lots of room for growth.
